Let’s talk sebum

We all produce sebum, an oil that lubricates and protects the skin. Normal skin is even, neither shiny nor dry. Dry skin is tight or flaky, due to insufficient sebum production, while oily, acne prone or combination skin is shiny because of excessive sebum. But the puzzle doesn’t end there. Sometimes skin that feels dry is actually dehydrated, that is, lacking in water. Dehydration is different to dryness. Sensitive skin is a complex issue, too. Often sensitive skin has weakened barrier, leaving it reactive and susceptible to irritation and discomfort. Both sensitivity and dehydration are conditions that can affect any skin type.

Using incorrect skincare and those that contain harsh chemicals, or being exposed to central heating and air conditioning, can make things worse for your skin, further aggravating skin conditions. The good news is that effective, regular cleansing can stop the cycle of dehydrating that often leads to breakouts, dryness and sensitivity. Our cleansers contain moringa, argan and other plant oils to gently remove sebum without stripping your skin. Our award-winning Cleansing Oil is an oily gel that mixes with water to dissolve make-up and remove impurities, leaving skin supple. Alternatively, Epara Cleansing Lotion is a creamy blend designed to wipe away impurities for healthy and smooth skin, and is ideal if you prefer water-less cleansing. Both cleansers are suitable for all skin types, including oily and combination skins.

Toning is the key to managing hydration. Our Hydrating Mist with red algae is bursting with energizing minerals. This fine spray balances your skin after cleansing to deliver hydration on a cellular level. it is also a great product to use when travelling or visiting different climates as it is simply to apply on the go and works instantly.

Clean, balanced skin responds well to great products and is the foundation of a glowing complexion. Epara can help you achieve this, no matter what your skin type.
