FOUNDER AND CEO Ozohu Adoh
A Focus on The Power of African Botanicals
Epara means “to cocoon oneself” in the Nigerian dialect of Ebira. It is a collection of handcrafted skincare products tailored to the underserved needs of women of colour. One woman’s quest to discover luxury skincare that caters to the unique issues affecting women of colour led to a bespoke beauty brand created especially to nourish and protect.
Ozohu Adoh grew up in Nigeria before moving to the UK where she obtained a masters in accountancy followed by an MBA at Oxford University. She enjoyed a career in finance, strategy, planning and development before following her passion for authentic skincare.
It was a personal need that sparked the idea for Epara. For a long time, she suffered from a dry, sensitive skin condition. After a fruitless search to find products that treated her concerns, she decided to develop her own. She went back to basics with organic ingredients from Africa, such as moringa oil, frankincense and shea butter, and soon found a lotion that worked wonders. Within just a few weeks, her face was soft and clear.
Ozohu's next step was to work closely with a lab in the UK to fully develop a full range of formulas powered by natural bioactives that have been sustainably sourced from across Africa. Epara’s products now tackle dehydration and hyperpigmentation caused by the sun, free radicals and air pollution while leaving all skin types feeling radiant and nurtured.
